West Kootenai Camp Skills Training - Cancelled
October 27-29, 2006

WHEN: October 27-29 2006

Registration between 4-6 p.m on October 27th.

Sessions begin at 6:00 p.m.

Event ends on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Camp Rory (tentatively)

Location map will be sent with confirmation of registration

WHO: All Guiders new and experienced!

WHAT: Learn new skills and some that you may have forgotten such as menus and food planning, tarping, flag raising, gadgets, weather watching, compass and mapping skills, games, crafts, camp planning, campfire, Guides own and others

CRITERIA: All participants must be at least 19 years old prior to the event.

COST

The event fee is $5.00, plus $5.00 per meal. The event fee is non-refundable but is transferable to another participant from your District for this event. (No fees will be refunded after the registration deadline of October 20, 2006). The District Council will be invoiced for all participants after the registration deadline. One cheque is to be sent by each appropriate council for all participants, payable to Girl Guides of Canada, West Kootenai Area

If you wish to attend this event, complete the electronic registration form, print it, and submit to the West Kootenai Area Training Contact - Teresa Jansen by the deadline. If participation is limited, selections will be made by the Area. Your District Commissioner will advise you if you are selected, and will discuss payment of the event fee and travel expenses.

EXPECTATION

Participants are able to attend a portion of this training ie. Attend Sat thru Sunday or just Saturday

Travel

It is the responsibility of the participant to make her own travel plans. Please consider car pooling with others from your District.

Uniform

During the event we will be seen by the public providing an excellent opportunity to create positive PR for Guiding. All event participants are asked to wear appropriate uniform options while traveling and during the event.

Participants are asked to refrain from using scented products in respect of those with allergies.

Accommodation and Meals

Accommodation will be in tents. Please bring your sleeping bag, pillow and thermarest/foamie. Meals include Friday dinner Saturday breakfast lunch and Dinner and Sunday breakfast and lunch.

Food allergies and dietary restrictions - While every effort is made to provide meals that are suitable for all participants; it is not possible to accommodate all requests. Serious food allergies, that is those causing serious medical reactions, should be listed on the registration form and will be avoided in the menu if at all possible. Dietary restrictions due to food intolerances or dietary preferences that require specific food items cannot always be accommodated when preparing food for large numbers. In these cases it may be necessary for the participant to provide acceptable alternatives.

CONFIRMATION FORM (forwarded to all registered participants at a later date)

A Confirmation Form is sent to all registered participants, staff and presenters. Receiving this form confirms that you are registered to attend the event. It is essential that every participant, staff and presenter complete and submit the Confirmation Form to the West Kootenai Area Training Contact - Teresa Jansen at tjansen@telus.net or by fax at 250-265-4949. This confirms your attendance at the event and provides necessary travel and emergency contact information.

A kit list and map of the camp location will be sent to you at this time.
