Trail OAL Camp Skills Training

Camp Leader

When:  Friday Feb. 8th and Sat. Feb. 9th, 2008

Where:  Robson Hall, Castlegar District hosting
                3067 Waldie (off Broadwater Road in Robson)

Times:                                              

Friday, Feb. 8th  7pm - 9 pm
7:00 - 8:00  Basic Trip Planning - Camp and Adventure Camps
8:00 - 9:00  Outdoor Leadership  - what it is and how to do it.

Friday night - anyone who wishes can camp overnight at the hall.  We will have a campfire (pretend) and mug up (not pretend).  If you plan on staying overnight, please bring everything you may need – change of clothing, bedroll, vanity products, etc.        

Sat. Feb 9th 9 am - 4 pm
7:30 - 9  Get up, get dressed, clean up and eat breakfast
9 - 10   Weather/ gadgets
10 - 11  Map and compass skills
11 - 12  Camp games
12 - 1:30   Camp cooking Lunch
1:30 - 2:30  Tents, tarps and bear caches
2:30 - 3:30  Snack and plan a camp
3:30 - 4:00  Closing Ceremony and Evaluation

Cost:  Cost will vary depending on whether or not you stay the night.

Weekend $25
Friday only $5
Saturday only $15

Training:  If you have previously completed the Path training and you attend all parts of this training session you will only need to complete the camping requirements to gain credit for your Trail Outdoor Activity Leadership.

Registration:  Deadline is January 28, 2008
